Bad Neighbors

Neighbors is a 2014 comedy film starring Seth Rogen and Zac Efron, about a couple of new parents who love into a quiet neighborhood with their baby girl, and get a shock when a fraternity moves in next door, the film then follows their exploits as the first try to befriend the frat house, and then get rid of it. Seth Rogen stars as Mac, and Rose Byrne stars as Kelly. Zac Efron stars as  Teddy, the ridiculously attractive leader of the fraternity, and Dave Franco stars as his sidekick.
The film is fairly intelligent, and very funny, unlike the trailer appears to show, the film is ffar more than a cycle of physical gags and toilet humor, the film has an actual plot and a clever story, which is rare in today's comedy market. The film is really laugh out loud funny, and the humor manages to be mostly adult with the just the right hint of Adam Sandler! Neighbors is a difficult film to write about, because it exists simply to make one laugh, the film is just very funny, and that's enough.
The film features strong performances from it's cast, in particular Rose Byrne, who is finally able to use her native australian accent, Seth Rogen who is as charismatic and funny as ever, and Zac Efron who is surprisingly funny as the charming and attractive frat leader, looking, as Mac puts it, "like something a gay guy invented in a laboratory". Neighbors is an R rated film, (or as we call it in France a U), and it is unashamed of earning this certificate, Neighbors wears it's R rating with pride like a badge of honor, and it fully embraces this rating, with the movie being graphic visually and verbally, the movie manages to tread the fine line between funny vulgarity and just gross successfully.
Neighbors is a largely funny and successful film, while it's not as intelligent as 22 Jump Street, it is an inherently more enjoyable film, simply because i laughed more. Neighbors is hysterically funny, and for that alone, is this summer's best comedy. Rating: A
Officer Watkins: You called about your neighbors?
